Grade 5 Science
Week Nine Lessons
This week we will be continuing the Force, Motion, and Energy Unit. We will be exploring the properties of light this week! Science is always fun when kids get to play with flashlights! Here is a lesson to help you plan. Links to actual materials and lessons are provided throughout this post. I hope you can find something to help make planning this year a little, or a lot, easier!
TEKS/ Standards:

Thursday – How does light create a rainbow?
Friday – How is light related to electricity?
Word Wall Words:
Reflection
Refraction
Light Energy

(W) Students will complete a summary writing with key terms from Tuesday’s reading. –Science and Literacy Light. Complete Light diagram and the How Light Travels Test Stations in the notebook. –Force, Motion, Matter, and Energy Interactive Science Notebook
(Th) Exploring the Properties of Light Stations lab day! –Science and Literacy Light
(F) Using a book called “Physics” by Basher Books for the read aloud, read the Light page and allow the students to make their own character for one of the word wall words for this week. Complete the Light Anchor Chart for s a classroom poster- Force, Motion, and Energy Anchor Charts. Complete the vocabulary pages that were not completed through the week.
