Week Seventeen Lessons
This week we will start the Space Unit. Space in 5th grade looks at the interactions between space and earth. We will be exploring the Water Cycle this week. Students will observe and diagram the steps of the water cycle. Here is a lesson to help you plan. Links to actual materials and lessons are provided throughout this post. I hope you can find something to help make planning this year a little, or a lot, easier!

Lesson Ideas:
(Monday) Students will observe the Water Cycle Baggies and put the Water Cycle word book together. Complete the first 2 columns of a Word Wall Builder Chart. –All this is in the Science and Literacy Water Cycle
(Tuesday) Students will read an informational text about the Water Cycle and complete a graphic organizer to process the information. Complete the third column of the Word Wall Builder Chart. –All this is in the Science and Literacy Water Cycle.
(Wednesday) Students will complete a summary writing with key terms from Tuesday’s reading. – Science and Literacy Water Cycle. Students will complete the water cycle notes and wheel in their notebooks- Earth and Space Interactive Science Notebook
(Thursday) Students will complete the Water Cycle Observations Stations.-Science and Literacy Water Cycle Complete the Water Cycle Anchor Chart as a class. – Earth and Space Anchor Charts The students can fill in their printable poster, and you can make one on chart paper to hang up around the room.
(Friday) Start the STAAR Science Review Stations this week. Complete one or two rotations of stations each Friday between now and the STAAR test. You have 14 stations and 14 weeks from now to the week before the Science STAAR test.
