Meet the Teacher {Linky}

Hi friends!
I am currently a stay-at-home mom with my two precious babies, ages one and two-and-a-half. I love every minute of staying home and soaking up all the time with my babies I can before they go off to school. Teaching is my heart, though, and I started missing it pretty quickly. I spent a one year internship in middle school, 7th and 8th grade Science. It takes special people to teach, and teach well, at that age! Another semester of my internship was spent in 5th grade. I fell in love! I was offered a job teaching 5th grade Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies the week before I graduated from college, and couldn’t accept it fast enough! I knew I would love it! I taught 5th grade for 3 amazing-exciting-wonderful years, but decided to stay home when we had our son. I have a wonderfully supportive husband who has provided the opportunity for me to do that. Through many long, late nights with a newborn, I discovered Pinterest. I found so many ideas that I loved for teaching. I quickly realized I was just a teaching idea hoarder, since it will be a while before I am in the classroom again. I knew that my love of teaching was not going to sit idle for that long, so I began blogging and creating materials that other teachers could use. While I have this time at home, I’d love to help other teachers who teach science. I especially know that a college degree for elementary education does not provide the science needed to know the materials you need to teach. On top of that, I have seen the struggle for primary teachers to make room for science in their busy schedule of reading, writing, and math. MY goal has been to create materials that help make teachers’ lives easier. Over the past year, I have created an entire year curriculum for 5th grade science, and I am working on making materials for the younger grades to easily fit science into their day. I have so many ideas that I can’t get them out fast enough and it is driving me crazy 🙂 Through my blog and my TeachersPayTeachers store, I am hoping to help anyone who needs it! I have now given purpose to all those ideas I was “hoarding”.

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS…

Family. Kids. Running. School Supplies. Zumba. Shopping. Laminated Items. Pinterest Cooking. Pinterest Decorating. Real Estate. Designing Houses. Cookies. Gardening. Chocolate Milk. Christmas. 4th of July. Bowling.

IF YOU WEREN’T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?

I have always wanted to be an architect and design houses. Architecture is what I originally went to school for, but a quarter of the way through I realized I was meant to be a teacher. If I could be anything else, I would be a house plan designer!

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.
Loving. Happy. Momma.

FINISH THE SENTENCE, “________, SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!”

“Please add hours to my school day without pay, said no teacher ever!”

Q: IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?

Dolly Parton! I LOVE her!! I grew up with grandparents and parents who loved her, and she is a really wonderful person. I actually went to one of her concerts this year!

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?

Dancing in the Rain
I try to enjoy life the best I can, even through the storms.

Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?

The power to heal

Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?

“May your limits be unknown & May your efforts be your own & If you ever feel you can’t take it anymore don’t break character. You’ve got so much heart. ” Lyrics from Be Still by The Killers
Those lyrics just ring so true. We tend to lose our good character and child-like innocence along the way as we grow up. No matter what happens, keep your spirits high and don’t lose your happiness.

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

“Say Something” A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera

I feel I’m getting pretty good at that one. LOL

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?

Morning Person! I am up and going as soon as my eyes open, but I am dragging at night time.

Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU’VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?

I love my 5th Grade Science Review Stations. They are my favorite (and my kids’ favorite) method for reviewing the concepts.

Q: SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!

My favorite thing to do is play cards with my grandparents. I am so blessed to still have them, and love spending time with them!
