THE BIG LIST OF TEACHING Solutions – ELEMENTARY SCIENCE

The Big List of Teaching Science - Solutions

This is my Big List of Teaching Everything Solutions to help you find what you’re looking for to teach this concept. I always plan this to follow my properties of matter unit along with Mixtures. You may see a lot of similar resources between this post and the Mixtures post because Mixtures and Solutions go together in 4th and aren’t covered explicitly in younger grades. I will start at 5th grade and work my way down to kinder. Click any picture to see more about it or to grab it for your classroom!

5TH GRADE SCIENCE

First off, I want to share my newest creation: the completely digital lesson set. Just send to your student(s) devices and check back in a week!! With built-in learning, virtual labs, and formative assessments, this makes teaching science easy peasy! It totally paperless, too! This works well for independent learning in the classroom as well as at home learning for school closures or make-up work.

What I love about the Digital Lesson Set is how many ways this can be used in (and out of) your classroom. The virtual lab is what takes me the most time to create, but all the time and energy it saves in the long run makes it worth it! Can you imagine having an entire week of learning just ready for a student to open and complete?!

The digital lesson set corresponds with the following complete lesson set bundle.

Both of the above options are a complete lesson from start to finish with all activities and student pages. In case you can’t tell, I am big on having a complete set with everything I need in one place. It makes planning and prepping so much easier.

An extra Mixtures and Solution lesson set that provides you with more activities for this topic. All activities are different from the ones in the first lesson set.

Science Starters are my go-to for getting our day started. This builds routine for students to walk in the classroom and get their day started without explicit instruction needed. The teacher is freed up to shake hands and welcome each student as they walk through the door.

Science Diagrams are a tool every teacher needs! I use them to review each unit. These make great supplemental aides for the STAAR test. A review game – quick draw – helps students commit these to memory in a fun way. Students who use them on a test will be practicing how to complete a blank diagram, while the rest of the class practices drawing and completing the diagrams. I have seen students use these as a brain dump before taking a test and do well with it!

Solutions is not a K-1 standard, but Properties of Matter is.

My kids LOVED this unit. Its cutesy, but still has high-quality real science learning!!
